In 1960, the Government of Pakistan decided to relocate the capital of country out of Karachiand establish a new city, Islamabad, as the Capital of Pakistan. The Capital DevelopmentAuthority (CDA) was created to undertake the municipal functions. In 1981, the Federal Government reorganized the administrative hierarchy and created a new administrative setup, the Islamabad Administration.
